Two decades of teaching come to an end

The Winter 2011 semester was my last semester as a teacher at Centennial College and Humber College. Last week, I accepted an offer of full time employment from Adobe Systems. As they say in the movies, they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. But while I’m leaving the colleges as a teacher, I won’t be entirely out of the loop. Read the rest of this entry »

Sports - 1st prize image shot by Alex Ward

The images have been judged, the winning photos professionally printed thanks to Henry’s Canada, and just today, fellow photo instructor and professional photographer Joe Marranca and I framed the 12 final images.

Now all that’s left is to show off the amazing images captured by Centennial College’s School of Communications, Media and Design (SCMD) students in the 3-year, Fast Track and UTSC journalism programs. Very soon, the work will go on display in our very own Corridor Gallery here at the SCMD!

Teaching is an awesome calling. Not a job. A calling. And while there are surely days when I’d rather be doing anything else, there are far more days when I realize how lucky I am to be a teacher.

Today was one of those days – not so much for a specific teaching moment (heck it is Sunday) but because of something I read.
